Patient Participation Group - Thursday 19th April
Dear patients, This Thursday will see the first meeting of our newly re-formed Patient Participation Group (PPG). The meeting will take place at The Clay Area Health Centre at 6pm on Thursday 19th April.
If you are interested in helping out with our PPG, please contact our Assistant Practice Manager; Dom Cook on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Aims of the Patient Participation Group (PPG)
To facilitate good relations between the GP practice (referred to as the 'practice' throughout this document) and patients by communicating patient experience, interests and concerns and providing feedback to the practice on current procedures and proposed new developments.
To work collaboratively and positively with the practice to improve services and facilities for patients and to act as a sounding board for practice staff on issues affecting patients.
To build two-way communication and co-operation between the practice and patients, other individuals and organisations in healthcare, and the wider community to the mutual benefit of all.
To act as a representative group to support the practice and influence local provision of health and social care.
We look forward to seeing you there!
MacMillan Coffee Morning
Some members of our fledgling Patient Participation Group held a coffee morning on Friday 29th September. We are delighted to report that through the generosity of our patients and our bakers, the event raised a handsome £272.
Thanks to our great volunteers who donated their time in running this morning
This event was the first one run by our recently re-established Patient Participation Group. If you have some spare time and would like to join, please fill out this form and return it to any of our surgeries. We are looking for a cross section of the community and any time or other help you can donate would be greatly appreciated.
Allison Receives Queens Award
Our very own Nurse Team Manager, Allison King, has received the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse, awarded by community nursing charity The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI).
The title of Queen’s Nurse is not an award for past service, but instead recognises a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership. Nurses who hold the title benefit from developmental workshops, bursaries, networking opportunities, and a shared professional identity.
Well done to Allison from everyone at The Clays Practice
The Waiting Room - New online services
Sign me up today!
The Waiting-room is an online system that allows for booking of appointments and ordering of medicines. It also gives you access to any allergies we have recorded which relate to you.
The appointment system will be introduced slowly over the next few weeks to see how it goes, with initially only a very few appointments offered this way. You will always be able to book and appointment via the telephone, and there will be no less appointments available for telephone booking due to the offering of this service.
The medicine ordering is a new online system. As Thewaiting-room.net integrates with our clinical system, it will be a better system for ordering as it will list the up to date medications you are on and any changes will be updated here too.

In the mean time please continue to order your medication in the usual manner.
We hope that by offering these online services, patients will have a choice of quickly and conveniently gaining access to Services outside of our normal hours.
When the system goes live, and we already have your email address, you will receive an emailed invite asking you to register with thewaiting-room.net
If we do not have your email address and you would like to make use of this new system, all you need do is contact the surgery and tell us your email address.
Please note that due to patient confidentiality, we can only accept an email address for one specific person. Families will therefore need to supply a specific email address for each individual in the family.
