Noticeboard

Named Accountable GP for All Patients

Every patient has been allocated a named GP who is responsible for your overall care at the practice. If you would like to know who your named GP is, please contact reception and they will be happy to inform you.

If you wish to change the name of your accountable GP, please let us know and we will make every  reasonable effort to accommodate this request.

Having a named accountable GP does not restrict your entitlement to see any doctor in the practice.

Norovirus update, 11 March 2024

Cases of sickness and diarrhoea (norovirus) are rising and impacting local hospitals.

  • If you or your family have symptoms, please do not visit a healthcare setting.
  • Get better at home with simple self-care.
  • Stay off school or work until you have not been sick or had diarrhoea for at least 2 days. This is when you are most infectious.

Self-care tips:

  • stay at home and get plenty of rest
  • drink lots of fluids
  • take paracetamol if you're in discomfort
  • wash your hands with soap and water often (hand gel is not effective against norovirus)

Patient participation: shoulder pain pathways

Information for patients

Are you a patient who has seen a specialist or undergone treatment for shoulder pain? Would you be willing to share your experiences of the care received?NHS England recently brought together clinicians from across the south west (including specialist consultants, surgeons, and physiotherapists) to discuss the variation in shoulder pain pathways, treatment and outcomes that patients experience.NHS England would love to hear from any patients that have had experiences of shoulder pain and can arrange an informal interview with you. This discussion can take place at a time and date convenient to you and can take place online via Microsoft Teams or by telephone; whichever you would feel more comfortable with.To express an interest in being involved please contact Mohammed Ramzan (project manager, behaviour change team, NHS England) by email: mohammed.ramzan9@nhs.net The team hopes to conduct conversations by the end of March 2024, so please do make contact as soon as possible.

Bugle dispensing patients

As many patients have now been made aware, from the 16th February 2024 we will no longer be able to dispense to anyone within a 1.6km/1 mile radius of the new Banns Pharmacy at Rockhill, Bugle. The patients that this affects should have been sent a letter from NHS England/Cornwall & IoS ICB.

If you are unsure if your address falls into the catchment for Banns Pharmacy at Bugle, then please ask one of our dispensers next time you collect your medication.

Please note that you are free to use any community pharmacy of your choice.

If you think that you will experience difficulties collecting your prescription anywhere other than a dispensary at one of our sites, Part A of this form will have to be completed by you and then handed to a dispenser in order for us to complete the final page (Part B). It will then be up to the South West Pharmacy Team at NHS England to make the final decision.

If you need further advice please contact the NHS Southwest Collaborative Commissioning Hub Primary Care Team on england.pharmacysouthwest@nhs.net

Serious Difficulty Application form

Please note that the decision to licence a pharmacy in Bugle was not made with our co operation and is out of our control unfortunately. We did appeal the opening at each stage, but the decision to go ahead was made by the wider NHS. We understand that lots of our patients would rather collect from us, but our hands are tied and we are not legally allowed to dispense to anyone who falls in the catchment above.

For any patients who don't live within 1.6km/1 mile of a pharmacy, we can continue to dispense to you at any of our branches.

How to choose the correct health service

All our health services are busy right now, especially our ambulance service and the emergency department team at Truro hospital.

You can play your part in supporting us to care for people with serious and life-threatening illnesses.

Did you know you know you can get help and advice by calling 111 or go online at 111.nhs.uk? You may not need to go and wait in our busy emergency department and could be directed to a minor injury unit which will be quicker and closer to home.

Only dial 999 for an ambulance in a genuine, life-threatening emergency, for example:

  • Chest pain / breathing difficulties / heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Severe bleeding
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Severe burns or scalds
  • Serious head injuries
  • Major trauma such as a road traffic accident or a fall from height

If you have called for an ambulance, please do not ring again asking for a time of arrival. Only call again if:

  • The patient’s condition worsens
  • You no longer need our help

The call handlers must prioritise speaking to the most seriously injured and unwell patients.

If you don’t think it’s a serious or life-threatening emergency:

  •  Call your own GP. Even if you are in Cornwall on holiday, you could get a phone or video consultation with your doctor at home.
  • Go online at 111.nhs.uk or call 111 to get expert advice and be signposted to where you can get the best and nearest care for your needs.
  • Ask a pharmacist for advice – they’re experts in treating minor health issues like colds, urinary infections, stomach upsets, aches and pains.
